This Protocol converter Converter is externally powered, optically isolated, bi-directional unit. The unit works as 2 wire or 4 wire converter selecting through DIP switch. This can be used to convert any standard RS232 port into two wire half‐duplex RS‐485 port and vice versa. This product features opto‐isolation circuitry and surge protection, which effectively protects your Rs‐232 devices from ground loops, transient surges, lightening and spikes; it also supports data direction and auto turn around and works up to 115200bps. The unit does not require software drivers or flow control is necessary.

This unit works with an auxiliary power of 48Vdc for its functioning. When Logic signal high (48V) is fed to the RELAY ON INPUT, the relay inside gets latched and RELAY ON indication LED glows, simultaneously, the relay contacts NO1, C1 and NO2, C2 gets connected. To release the contacts, logic high (48V) should be applied to RELAY OFF input. During RELAY OFF condition, NO1, C1 and NO2, C2 gets disconnected and NC1, C1 and NC2, C2 gets connected.
